Posted

STEVENS POINT-SPASH Panthers (3-1) hosted the undefeated Wausau West Warriors on Sept. 18 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup.

In the first quarter, the Panthers drove down the field to the Warriors’ one-yard line as quarterback Trent Breitbach crossed the goal line on a quarterback sneak to put SPASH up 7-0.

SPASH once again got into the red zone as they went down to the Warriors’ three-yard line and Breitbach scored on a quarterback draw.

In the final minute of the second quarter, Breitbach scored his third rushing touchdown with a quarterback keeper as he ran over a Wausau West defender on his way to the end zone from three yards out.

Breitbach found wide receiver Sam Kornowski for a 23-yard touchdown pass and the final touchdown of the second quarter.

In the third quarter, Breitbach scored his fifth total touchdown as he called his own number and ran it in from nine yards out to push the SPASH lead to 35-0.

Wausau West cut into the SPASH lead with a five-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Riley to Miles Waldvogel to make the score 35-7.

The Panthers took back the 35-point lead when Ethon Fischer took a handoff three yards for a touchdown as the score went to 42-7.

A 15-yard run from Fritz Beversdorf capped the scoring for SPASH as they brought the score to 49-7 and advanced their record to 4-1.
