Stevens Point Police Report

Sept. 4 – A student at McKinley Elementary School hit the principal then walked away from the school. The student was picked up by a parent.

Sept. 4 – Officers went to the Point of Discovery School for a “suspicious incident.”

Sept. 4 – A four-year-old child was driving a toy car in the roadway of East Avenue and Jefferson Street with no supervision.

Sept. 4 – A vehicle in a parking lot on Crosby Avenue was found with a smashed window.

Sept. 4 – Officers responded to a local hospital for a report of a five-month-old girl with a visible hand print on her face.

Sept. 4 – During a traffic stop on Clark Street, officers located the 19-year-old driver had marijuana in the vehicle.

Sept. 5 – A 22-year-old man was found vomiting on Main Street. He put his hands in his vomit in an attempt to not fall in it. An officer made contact with the man who was struggling to stand. The man admitted to being extremely intoxicated and his friends told officers they would help him get home.

Sept. 5 – An officer observed a 20-year-old man urinating in public outside of the Stevens Point Post Office. A brief foot pursuit ensued, but ultimately the man was caught and issued four citations.

Sept. 5 – A customer at a car dealership located a marijuana pipe in a used vehicle.

Sept. 5 – A 31-year-old man was intoxicated and got lost on a walk. Officers gave the man a ride home.

Sept. 5 – Homeowners reported five to six juveniles on bikes had ding dong ditched their residence. The homeowner rain outside and confronted the juveniles, but the juveniles reportedly responded by yelling racial slurs. A resident at the home had been allegedly getting bullied by the same kids while at school.

Sept. 5 – An 18-year-old man was arrested on Clark Street for OWI first offense and possession of THC.

Sept. 6 – A 28-year-old man pulled out the stop sign at Clark and Main Street. He attempted to put it back, but it was then crooked. He was informed that the streets department may declare it damaged, which would lead to him paying for it.

Sept. 6 – A woman in a UWSP parking lot flagged an officer down to ask if Stevens Point or Plover had a Chick-Fil-A. She was informed the nearest location is in Rib Mountain.

Sept. 6 – A welfare check was completed on a 17-year-old male at Festival Foods. The report stated he had bruising and was recently kicked out of the house. Officers discovered he had ingested a large amount of cough suppressant. He was transported to the hospital and no evidence of abuse was found.

Sept. 6 – A fight in the Taco Bell parking lot on Division Street led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male.

Sept. 7 – A 67-year-old woman reported it looked like someone had attempted to dig out a stop sign on Prentice Street. Dirt was loose and moved around at the base of the stop sign.

Sept. 7 – An 83-year-old woman reported a 61-year-old man was dumping bottles of urine in the road on Franklin Street. The man claimed it was just water.

Sept. 7 – Two 20-year-old men were detained by loss prevention workers at Target. The men were issues citations for retail theft.

Sept. 8 – A random number called Firehouse Subs and told the employee he was “going to shoot up the place in thirty minutes.” It turned out to be a false alarm. Dispatch was unable to get any identifying information about the random phone number.

Sept. 8 – A 42-year-old man on Second Street believed he was about to die due to being poisoned. He was checked by EMS and found to be fine.

Sept. 8 – An individual advised he was high on methamphetamine and would voluntarily go to Aspirus Hospital if his mom picked him up. He was transported to the emergency room by his mother.

Sept. 9 – A 49-year-old man was sleeping on The Square while charging his ankle bracelet. He had just gotten out of prison the day before and was homeless. He advised officers he is looking for employment and housing.

Sept. 9 – A pride flag was stolen a second time from a Clark Street residence.

Sept. 9 – Officers responded to Stanley Street for a report of a highly intoxicated man who was lying down outside of a gas station. He struggled to stand and blew a preliminary breath test of 0.264. Officers gave the man a ride home. The man vomited several times while with officers, which seemed to help him get more sober.

Sept. 9 – A 41-year-old intoxicated woman spoke with an officer about being followed by random strangers every time she goes out in public. She believed her phone was being hacked as she received odd messages, but refused to show the messages to the responding officer. She wanted to get a restraining order but would not tell the officer who the restraining order would be against.
