Robert J. Fulmer
1956-2025

Robert “Bob” John Fulmer, 69, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family after a short, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob lived his life with an unmistakable blend of kindness, humor, and quiet strength. This wonderful man was known for his infectious smile, sharp wit, and gentle wisdom. These were often delivered with just the right touch of sarcasm. He had a way of making everyone laugh and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Bob was born on January 3, 1956, to Tom and Marie Fulmer, in Hillsdale, Michigan. They had a close-knit family that shaped his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and deep appreciation for life. He shared a lifelong bond with his brother, Paul, and sister, Linda. Bob’s oldest brother, Tom, passed away in 1984. His Uncle Callaghan taught him to hunt and remained an important influence and friend.

Bob began work as an occupational therapist at Winnebago Mental Health Institute in 1981 and continued to do so until 2013. This job suited him well as he was met with many challenges and outdoor activities. His positive attitude and sense of humor touched and influenced all who knew him. Many of his co-workers became lifelong friends. He was often described as the “nicest guy.” Bob made life more enjoyable.

Bob and Lori were married on June 10, 1990. Because of Uncle Callaghan, Bob always had a dream to live on a lake someday. He and Lori made this dream a reality when they moved to Waupaca in 2019. After that, retirement became even more enjoyable! There was more time for family, friends and his hobbies. Lori and Bob were able to play daily games and do more traveling. They enjoyed their time with their ever-growing family, especially his three granddaughters who brought them endless pride and joy. Bob developed more friendships and more memories. His profound love of life was contagious. He found joy wherever nature and loved ones were near. He enjoyed biking, skiing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, hunting, camping, or hiking. If it involved water or woods, or any kind of challenge, Bob was in his element. One of his favorite things to do was to end the day by sitting on the dock, looking at the surrounding beauty.

Bob was the kind of man who would help anyone who needed it. He faithfully volunteered with “Meals on Wheels” in his community. He has gone to Guatemala to help build homes for others. He was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor, a friend, or especially his daughters. Bob loved projects and problem solving tasks. Nothing was too big, too small, or too last-minute if it meant helping someone. No wonder there has been such a wonderful community of support and love from all our neighbors and friends. The gratitude felt for such kindness has made this heartbreak more bearable. Thank you to all of you!

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Lori (Collins) Fulmer; his treasured daughters, Kelsey Fulmer and Gretchen Fulmer (Adam Benson); his cherished granddaughters, Alaina, Paisley, and Quinn; his brother, Paul (Katie) Fulmer; his sister, Linda (Rick) VanWagoner; many nieces and nephews. All will forever remember his laughter, guidance, and generous heart.

Bob will be remembered as the funniest guy in the room, the one with the biggest smile, the best advice, and a heart that never hesitated to give. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, and he will be forever missed and loved.

There will be a celebration of life, honoring Bob, at a later date in Waupaca as well as in Michigan.
