Virginia D. "Jinny" Niemuth, age 97, of Fremont, died on Friday, January 2, 2026, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca.  She was born on May 20, 1928 in Waupaca, WI, the only child of Christian and Mathilda (Danielson) Nelson. Jinny was raised on the family farm in Lind Center and attended Lind Center Grade School.  She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca.  In 1946, she graduated from Waupaca High School.  Her first job out of high school was working for the Waupaca County Register of Deeds.  On June 29, 1957, Jinny married Derald Niemuth at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, and the couple moved to Fremont.  Ginny was employed by Valley Bank in Fremont. She retired in 1993 after 35 years of service.  Derald passed away on May 7, 1994 after 37 years of marriage.

Jinny loved doing many outdoor activities including biking, golfing, canoeing, snowmobiling and especially cross country skiing.  She enjoyed many special cross country skiing weekends.  Traveling was also something that brought Jinny great joy.  She spent time in many European countries like Norway, Sweden and Denmark, and even had the privilege  of meeting her distant cousins in Copenhagen, Denmark.  Following Derald's death, Jinny found companionship with her special friend, LaVern Behm.  During their 15 years together, they enjoyed trips to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean, as well as touring the United States in LaVern's RV.  They also loved to volunteer their time every year at EAA.

Throughout the years, coin collecting was a special hobby for Jinny.  She was also a member of the Sugar Bowl Investment Club where members managed and purchased their own individual investment portfolios.

Jinny was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont and following her retirement, she volunteered her time on the finance committee and the altar guild.  She also volunteered her time at the Weymont Food Pantry for over 20 years.

Jinny is survived by three nieces, Lorrenda Fritz, Ludana Brey and  Lagena Brey; cousins and many friends; she is also survived by LaVern's children Bob Behm, Steve(Sue)Behm and Cindy Behm and daughter-in-law, Julie Behm and their families, who lovingly called her Grandma Jinny.

Jinny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Derald, her special friend, LaVern; her sister-in-law, Marvella (Walter "Bud") Brey, and her two fur babies, Harley and Ginger.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont.  Pastor Mark Drengler will officiate. Burial will follow in Lind Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

Jinny's family would like to thank the people who regularly checked in on her at her home, as well as the caregivers at ThedaCare in Waupaca and ThedaCare Hospice for all of the care and compassion they provided to her in her final days.  It was greatly appreciated.
