Susan Rue Nelson passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25th in Edina, MN. Born August 26th, 1953, to Loyd and Barbara Nelson in Minneapolis, MN, Susan was the second born of 6 children. Spending much of her early life in Waupaca, WI, she lived a life of service to others as a practicing physical therapist in Minneapolis and a 30-year career as an educator and program leader at St. Catherine University. In addition to her career, she was a dedicated mother to her three children and grandmother to her two grandsons. Her family, her students, and her patients were everything to her, and she truly found the most joy in helping others throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Barbara Nelson and is survived by her siblings, Paul (spouse Mary Lou, daughter Amanda), Gregg (spouse MaryJo, children Sam and Caitlin), Beth, Barb (son Eli) and Charlotte (spouse Todd, children Joe and Alex), her children Colin, Anna (spouse James) and Claire, and her grandsons Nelson and Cole. An open house celebration of life will be held on September 19th at Brainard’s Bridge Park in Waupaca, WI from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. In leu of flowers, feel free to direct donations to the PTA Advancing Movement Scholarship at St. Catherine University in memory of her dedicated service to others.
