UWSP starts football season at 1-0

STEVENS POINT- The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers hosted their opening game of the season against the Augsburg University Eagles on September 5 at Goerke Field.

The Pointers went up early in the first quarter as running back Zack Lynch scored on a 13 yard touchdown run at 9:05 in the first quarter.

Isaiah Des Jardins broke the game open for UWSP with a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown to make the score 14-0 with 7:56 left.

Augsburg got on the board with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Caden Rodkewich to cut the deficit to 14-6.

A 34-yard field goal by Tyler Sodemann extended the lead to give the Pointers a 17-6 advantage in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Rodkewich found a receiver for his second touchdown pass and kept the Eagles within striking distance.

The Pointers’ defense held serve as they finished off Augsburg to start their 2026 season at 1-0.
